Supported client platforms
HTTPS is supported on the platforms indicated for the following clients:
- WebClient is supported on the following Windows platforms: NT, ME, 2000, and XP.
- The full Progress 4GL client (including AppServer and WebSpeed agents) is supported on all platforms on which OpenEdge runs except AIX and all 64-bit platforms.
- Java Open Client is supported on all platforms that include Javasoft-compatible JVMs.
- The .NET Open Client is supported on all Windows platforms that have the .NET Framework installed.
At the client machine, the root CA certificate for all server certificates must be installed before HTTPS can be used. For WebClients and 4GL clients, the root CA certificates must be installed in the
OpenEdge-Install-Directory/certsdirectory, whereOpenEdge-Install-Directoryis the OpenEdge installation path. Root CA certificates for publicly available and well-known CAs, such as VeriSign©, are automatically installed during OpenEdge installation.For more information on managing digital certificates:
